Lazy Lounge Chair

Lazy Lounge Chair

As the group leader for this project, I led our team through the full design-to-production process of creating a lazy lounge chair — a piece of furniture designed for relaxation, reading, and reflection. The goal was to craft a chair that embodies both ergonomic comfort and visual balance, with carefully calculated angles and height to naturally support the human posture.

Over the course of two months, we worked from raw, untreated hardwood to a fully assembled, polished final piece. Every step — from measuring and cutting the lumber, to sanding, assembling, and oil-finishing — was done by hand. The process required precision and patience, as each adjustment directly affected the overall comfort and structure of the chair.

The chair’s design emphasizes simplicity and function: the inclined backrest and wide seat allow users to recline comfortably while reading or using a phone, while the solid structure reflects a sense of groundedness and calm. Working with real wood gave me a deep appreciation for the tactile dialogue between material, craft, and human experience.

This project was not only a technical and physical challenge, but also a leadership experience — coordinating the group’s workflow, ensuring precision in measurement, and maintaining design consistency across all phases. The final result captures our shared dedication: a functional, beautiful piece that invites rest, thought, and connection between maker and material.
